It's not what you acquire but what you remove that allows you to see who you truly are, you're Essential Self.
You were most YOU when you were young, fresh, exuberant, curious and alive in the Mystery, but you were also lacking in power, skills and means, things that you had to acquire to grow up. Real spiritual practice takes you back to who you ARE, your Essential Self. The You you were before you had to adapt to this world.
True spiritual practice is about the removal of stuff, not its addition!
So what might you want to remove?
You can start by stripping away comparison. Comparing yourself to others is a sure fire way to pull yourself off center. Whatever you perceive about another persons life or even accomplishments, is merely projections, whether you perceive them through a lacking or abundant lens, makes no difference. You have no idea what really goes on in another persons mind or how they truly feel about themselves. It's all confabulations.
