My Loves! Before we get into it, let me issue a language warning. If you can't handle certain words then go no further. Now that we've gotten that our of the way let's begin...
How many times have you gotten down on yourself for not being good enough? A hundred, thousand, a million? We seem to be incredibly good at comparing and belittling ourselves, at measuring ourselves against impossible standards and equally as skilled at denying ourselves things that actually make a difference like, love, compassion, time, patience, nurturing and acceptance. We look around at what is presented to us through the mainstream media, through advertising and what not and will inevitably be not good enough because who, really, I mean give me a fucking break, actually lives that way?! One of the key phrases that really gets me in advertising is, Flawless. Get flawless skin, or lips or whatever. Does this translate unconsciously to our ideas about our work and our relationships.
I'm sure it does.
Does the idea that if we are not flawless then we can't have a flawless life- sexy, successful, productive spotless and fit, then also follow?
When did perfection become something that we crave so ridiculously?
It really doesn't matter because in whatever arena you may be trying to achieve this standard of flawlessness, perfection doesn't exist! That's right. It's a fucking fairy tale folks.
There is no such thing as the American Dream as the Super Mom or the Ultimate Bad Boy, even.
These are characters, symbols in stories. Myths. We are HUMAN! Oh so human and oh so terribly and beautifully flawed... and it's awesome!
Want what's real instead of perfection.
Change what you crave and your life changes.
Ask any addict if when they stopped craving drugs booze or whatever, if their life did not take a dramatic turn.
It's a fucking choice folks!
If we continue to crave things that do not exist like the perfect body, relationship, job, house, car, life etc... we will never be happy because our association with happy is always associated to something that is subject to entropy. Flesh sags. Things loose their shine. People change.
We cannot choose something that does not exist, perfection does not exist but love is absolutely everywhere. Love is a choice, love is an energy, love is connection, love is frail, love is mortal, love is infinite, love is depth, love is compassion, love is understanding, love is caring, loves is freeing, love is limitless. Love is at the core of what we can be and we can choose it we can dedicate ourselves to it and as we do it dedicates itself to us. Love is everywhere and in any moment to love is a choice that we can make, to meet ourselves in love, our friends in love, to love our passions and gifts into existence. Perfection is the fantasy and love is the reality, if you choose to make it so.
